Cedar User Guide

The client portal

Your customers and your subs each have their own portal. It is where they approve estimates, sign change orders, pay invoices and read what you have shared, without a password to remember.

Signing in

A customer goes to your portal page and types the email address or mobile number you have on file. They choose Send my link, and Cedar sends them a one-time link. The link works once, for seven days. A customer who needs another link asks for it the same way.

What the customer sees

  • Waiting for you — the list of what needs them: an estimate to approve, a change order to sign, an invoice to pay.
  • Estimates — the estimate with its terms, its add-ons they can choose, and Approve estimate. They type their full name to approve.
  • Change orders — each one, to sign or decline.
  • Invoices — each open invoice, with a way to pay it online.
  • Photos and files, and messages — what you have chosen to share, and the project thread.

You decide what each customer can see for each project, on the project's People tab. A customer sees only the projects they are invited to.

Paying from the portal

The customer chooses an open invoice and pays it with the method they choose. The payment appears on the invoice in Cedar, the same as one you took yourself.
