Texts and email

Find it Operations › Messages

Cedar sends texts and email to your customers and keeps each conversation with the project it belongs to. A text goes only to a person who agreed to receive texts, and it waits for quiet hours to end.

The inbox

Messages lists every conversation with its status. Open one to read it, reply, or choose Open the project. A reply you type goes out during the day. Choose Send now, even in quiet hours only when it cannot wait. A staff note is for your team and the customer never sees it. Archive a thread when it is finished.

A customer marked opted out (STOP) cannot get texts, and a customer with no text consent yet cannot get them either.

Text settings

Open Texting settings to set the rules. Quiet hours start and End set the hours with no texts, 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. in your time zone by default. Most texts to one person in a day caps how many a customer gets. Edit the wording of each standard text, or choose Use the default wording, then Save rules.

Consent and STOP

Cedar records each customer's consent with the date, the wording they agreed to and the number it applies to. A customer who replies STOP is removed from texts at once, and Cedar keeps the record of that too.

Replies that confirm

When you ask a customer to confirm an appointment or a schedule change by text, they can reply YES. Approvals and signatures never work by text. Those always go through a link, so there is a record of who approved what.

Email

Estimates, invoices, change orders, receipts and reminders go out by email. The message comes from Cedar's no-reply address in your business's name, and a reply goes to your own email address.
