Customers and leads

Find it Accounts

A customer is a person or a company you do work for or want to do work for. Each one has a single record, with its contacts, its projects, its invoices, its payments and the log of every call, text and visit.

Adding a customer or a lead

  1. Open Accounts and start a new customer.
  2. Enter the name, email and phone. Cedar checks each phone number and saves it in one standard form, so the same number is always found the same way.
  3. Save it. A lead is a customer who has not yet agreed to a project. Open the Leads filter to see only them, and choose Convert to Account when a lead signs on.

Contacts and the contact log

Add more people to a customer with + Add Contact. Each contact has a job title and an address. Mark one contact as the responsible party. A customer has only one, and Cedar moves the mark when you pick another. Use + Log Contact to record a call, an email, a text, a walk-in, a note or a system event, with the direction it went. The log is what you read before you call someone back.

Text consent on the contact

The consent box on a contact's form records that the person agreed to receive texts from your business. Cedar keeps the wording they agreed to, the date and the number it applies to. Texts go only to people who agreed. See Texts and email.

Payment methods on the account

The account page keeps the methods your customer has saved, under Payment Methods. Add a bank account with + Bank, a card with + Card, or a Cash App with + Cash App. Choose Make default for the one to use first, or Remove one you no longer want on file.
